Waiting Time Analysis for a Network of Signalized Intersections

Vehicle waiting time or stopped delay is one of the major disadvantages employing signalized intersections (SIs) in road networks. The delays occur when vehicles stop queue, to access SI, and vary from lane with intersection management (IM) protocol used. In this research line, we propose an analytical expression for estimating studying performance different IM approaches a grid network independent intersections. We consider complex four legs two lanes left-lane configurations, as well five state-of-the-art approaches: conventional – Round-Robin (RR) Trivial Traffic Light Control (TTLC); adaptive Max-pressure Algorithm (MCA) Websters (WTLC); reactive Synchronous Intersection Management Protocol (SIMP). these compared using simulation scenarios SUMO framework. results validate study show advantages SIMP, being approach lowest delays.
